STORY

The Path of Five

Sometime ago, there lived four wolf brothers Saka, Amarok, Odin and Gubbio. The brothers were only four weeks old when their parents did not return to the den. Saka began howling then Odin, Gubbio and Amarok cried, all four brothers were sensing something was terribly wrong.

Their cries evoked Kutera a sister spirit who in the form of a raven came to guide the wolf pups on a very important journey that would change their lives forever.

Kutera uttered a loud screech to let the wolf brothers know of her presence outside of the den. Odin and Gubbio rumbled and played tag, while Amarok whinned of his hunger and thirst, Saka listened to Kutera as she told him of humans who where cutting down trees not far away.

The humans had set a terrible trap which had caught both their mother and father.

Saka once again howled but this time out of fear.

What will we do to survive Saka cried? Kutera assured the wolf pups that she would find away to feed them, then told them to stay in the den while she flew off to find food.

When Kutera returned she had plenty of food for the four young brothers. The brothers ate till they where so full that they all fell sound asleep.

Night fall emerged, Kutera once again let out a loud screech telling the brothers it was time to move on to a safer place, that full moon night, they began on their journey. Just before dawn Kutera had found shelter for her brothers. Kutera felt the winter approaching, she knew that the wolf pups would need lots of food to survive the winter months.

They where just to young and did not have the hunting skills to survive on their own. Eating and sleeping during the day, they traveled at night. Kutera continued to quide her brothers safely through the rugged mountain side. One full moon had past and Kutera could no longer find enough food to feed her growing brothers. On their journey, the pups were learning to hunt on their own. Odin caught his first mouse and was feeling confident. Gubbio found a dead bird and Amarok along with Saka had caught a rabbit . That still wasn’t going to be enough to feed the growing brothers for the whole winter.

One very cold night Kutera found a new cave for her brothers to stay in. That night as the brothers sleep a sudden snow storm swept through the valley. It snowed so hard that night and when Saka, Amarok, Odin and Gubbio woke up the next morning, the cave entrance had been completly blocked by a snow slide. The brothers began to dig but they had no idea that they were buried under several feet of snow.

Kutera , having much wisdom had flown to where the ravens gather asking them for help. Hundreds of ravens gathered and flew together to where the wolfs were trapped. They all flew in a large circle high above the cave. Screeching loudly, the ravens chanted for help, drawing attention from the universe. The wind picked up their cries for help and carried it far away over the mountains. Five days had past and the wolf pups had become weak and hungry. Hundreds of sisters and brothers continued to gather in the circle.

Far off in another valley a human walked out of her home and heard strange cries in the wind. She saw an eagle flying east and decided to climb to the top of the mountain to see where the sounds in the wind where coming from. When she arrived at the peak of the mountain she looked east to where the eagle had flown. To her amazement over the next ridge there where hundreds maybe thousands of ravens circling and screeching loudly. She had never seen anything so magnificent and beautiful in her life. The human was so drawn to the beauty of the ravens that she continued walking till she stood directly underneath the circle . Suddenly the ravens became silent. The human heard a whimper from behind her. When she turned around all she saw was a wall of snow up against the rocks. Then she realized that there was something under the snow . She began digging and it wasn’t long till she reached the wolf brothers.

The wolf pups had been inside the dark, cold, damp cave for five days eating only snow. Amarok and Gubbio where so weak they could only shake as this kind human pulled the brothers out of the cave. Saka and Odin had dug so hard for so long that they where barely alive, and very cold. The human gathered up the brothers and wrapped them in her coat. When the human looked up in the sky, the ravens where all gone except for Kutera who sat quietly in a near by tree.

This day was so magical, the clouds opened up and the sun came out as the human walked back to her home. Kutera flew above them as the human walked with the wolf pups to a safe place. The universe sent the wolf brothers a beautiful human angel. Saka, Amarok, Odin, Gubbio and Kutera all spent the next two winters learning many lessons whilestaying safe and warm with the human.

The wolf brothers grew strong and confident and where about to continue their journey when their beautiful human grew very ill. She had been so kind and loving that the brothers and Kutera knew they needed to get help for their friend.

Not realizing this was apart of their journey Amarok, Saka and Kutera headed towards the town over the other side of the mountain. Odin and Gubbio agreed to stay and watch over their human angel. As Amarok and Saka got close to town they both sensed danger, so Kutera flew ahead to see what was there. Kutera returned saying there where humans herding up cattle just outside of town .

Together, Kutera, Saka and Amarok decided that they would need the help of another human to save their angel, and it would be to dangerous for them to approach the herd. The three friends all headed to where the ravens gather. Once again the ravens agreed to help them and gathered in a circle above the ridge near the herd.

Not long after chanting loudly for help, a human emerged from the cattle. He was so amazed at the incredible amount of ravens that he was drawn closer and closer to them. Saka and Amarok stood side by side as the human got closer then drew his gun. Suddenly, Kutera flew down from that circle in the sky and landed right on top of Amaroks head.

The human was so amazed at that which he had never seen before and put away the gun. When that human looked up again it was silent and the ravens where gone, except for Kutera who sat quietly on Amaroks head. Amarok and. Saka turned and headed towards their home, the other human followed.

The universe had brought them another beautiful human angel.

All of them together saved the life of their friend as she had once saved theirs.

Together they continued there journey all seven of them.

Each taking a different path on the same journey.

Spirit sisters and spirit brothers are all around, they come in many shapes and forms,

guiding us on our journey, today is the journey.
